250 year ago – we Declared Independence – BUT the paper did not win our Independence – it was WAR – and the sacrifice of many who “gave” us this nation. It was young and had lots to do to “establish” itself.
It was pretty much a confused and convoluted mess for several years. The colonies each wanting their own sovereignty and established their own constitutions (which is the correct thing to do). BUT as a United States they had all established OR were working with different currencies. This made trading from state to state difficult AND without a common currency it made trade on the world stage difficult.
EVEN 239 years ago with the establishing of our Constitution we had many problems financially. (we still do)
