Sometimes I have a strange way of looking at things. I realize that – but bear with me here. How on earth could I read something about eating healthier and come up with… FAST FOOD / FAST Money?
In our fast-living world, we’ve forgotten the basics of nearly everything. I watched a segment on TV where young people (20-ishes) are picking up new OLD hobbies, like sewing, knitting … cooking… etc. ART? I love to sew – I’m not great at it BUT I enjoy it. BY THE WAY… MELODY – YOUR GIFT IS FINALLY IN THE MAIL… 😊
At home – we were taught to mend the clothes, preserve foods… can vegetables, blanch them, freeze them, make your own jellies… Tomato juice… We used to have a small garden UNTIL I went to work… and then worked two jobs… one was music-worship leading in the church….
The young men learned the basics of electricity, fixing things (mechanics). Changing the oil from the vehicle… checking tire pressure. In the country they learned to hunt and fish… and how to clean them…. for consumption.
Are such survival skills now lost? Are they coming back?
We went from “shorthand” to quick everything… Fast Foods – FAST finances… FAST money. There’s a line in one of my favorite movies… “Slow Down, you’ll have a more harmonious outcome.” 😊
